Real World Math

I have already heard my students saying, "Mrs. G, why do we have to do this..." and inevitably they are referring to MATH! (It wasn't my favorite subject either, so I know the feeling...) but now as a teacher it is my personal goal to change their mindset and help them realize how truly valuable math can be!

I think I have mentioned before that we have "Real World" Math Fridays. I have posted the videos (among others) on Youtube. Even our special guest from this afternoon (the Mayor of Alexandria) joined in on the fun and tells us about one way he uses math. We may have to do this one together! It is pretty tough!
