Growing Like Weeds

The babies are growing like weeds!  Everyone always says that's the way it happens.  I think I just thought when they were born so little we wouldn't experience the same "growing up so fast" that everyone else does.  Well, I am here to tell you that is definitely not true!  The babies were 6 months old on Saturday.  I thought I would share a few things about their life right now that I don't want to forget.

Food: Both babies are still drinking milk supplemented with Similac Neosure formula.  I am not quite making enough milk for both babies so the Neosure has been our best friend as of late.  I guess that is not a negative thing since they are still not on the growth charts.  We are working on it!

Clothes: We are currently wearing 0-3 month clothes.  Both babies are in the same size but growing into 3-6 month clothes soon!  It is funny how attached I get to  their clothes.  I have such a hard time switching to the next size when it is time.

Weight: The babies were weighed several times a week when they first came home and then at each doctor's appointment after that.  They now get weighed once a month when the nurse comes to our house to give them their Synagsis shot.  This past visit (right at 6 months) Johnny weighed 13 pounds 9 ounces and Macy weighed 12 pounds 15 ounces.

Shots: This is the hardest things to write about because just thinking about it makes me so sad.  They are getting Synagsis shots each month to help keep them from getting RSV.  The nurse that comes said that Children's Hospital is full of babies this season that have RSV.  She is very glad we are getting the shots and have kept them inside most of the season to ensure they are healthy and can grow without getting sick and going back to the hospital.

Toys: They LOVE the balls that I mentioned in the first "Feature Friday" post.  That is truly their absolute favorite!  They are also enjoying some of the teething toys that they can hold and chew on.  To be honest, it doesn't have to be a teething toy for them to put it in their mouths, which we are really good at now.

Playing: They enjoy playing and talking with anyone that comes in their line of sight.  Johnny plays "wrestling" with John and plays "car ride/boat ride" with Macy.  They adore their dad and the times he spends with them.  They each have a special thing with their dad.

Personalities: Both babies have their own very distinct personalities starting to show.  We knew Macy would be busy but we are quickly learning that Johnny is a mover too!  They are learning how to sit up.  Johnny will try to sit and fall over and then try something else and as long as he is moving he is completely satisfied with not doing everything perfect the first time.  Macy, on the other hand, watches Johnny and seems very methodical about how she goes about things.  At times it seems like she is lagging behind Johnny and then all the sudden she sits up an shows off what she knows.

Side Note: Macy has learned how to scream.  She now knows that her voice is how she gets someone's attention and she uses it to her advantage (already) very well.  You can be in her face, playing with her, talking to her, and then all the sudden she makes the loudest screach you have ever heard!  Johnny is much more content right now and he loves the remote.  Typical man I suppose.
